Digital Conversion
High-quality digital conversion of both audio and video from most old or analogue mediums are our speciality. Old family videos, photos on slides, VHS or any other movie cassette can be transformed into digital video for viewing on a computer, smartphone or tablet device, or transferred onto DVD for viewing on your DVD player. A digital format never degrades and can last forever – making digital conversion a smart choice for the most treasured of your memories that are still on those old tapes.
What can be converted to digital format?
Beta tapes, VHS, camera cassettes, slides, and all other types of video can be converted to digital format for viewing on your device of choice.
All types of audio such as cassettes and vinyl records can also be digitised so you can continue to enjoy them easily on your current devices.
Are digital conversions done in-house?
To prevent damage, digital conversions are all done in-house and are never outsourced. We will never post your tapes, records or slides, or give them to anybody else – they will always stay on the premises until they can be returned to you.
How long does the conversion take?
Our turnaround for most digital conversions is normally 8-1o business days, although, for special requests, such as funerals, we can often process conversions within a couple of days if necessary. Please discuss any special requirements with us and we will do all we can to support your request.
Can video and audio in these formats be restored?
If a tape comes to us with water or mould damage, or the tape is physically broken, we can pull apart and repair the tape, re-spool the tape, re-house it and copy it to CD or DVD. We take extra care in repairing audio and video due to the fact these are usually family heirlooms, videos of childhood or of important family events like weddings, and are highly valuable to their owners.
We can facilitate data recovery from computer hard drives using a service we highly recommend. This is the only restoration we outsource simply for the fact it requires a technician to do the recovery, as the drive itself must be pulled apart and the small components must be digitally scanned in order to recover the files.
How will I receive the digitally converted file?
Any digital conversion can be given to you on a CD, a DVD or USB Memory stick. We advise after you receive the digital file that you take it home and copy it onto another CD or DVD, onto your computer, or onto a backup drive. We can help you with this by copying it for you.
Helpful Tip
Creating additional copies and distributing them to family members is a good safety measure – although the file will not degrade like a tape, it can give peace of mind to know you have a copy if the original is lost as a result of an accident or incident.
